My daughter and I have both been out of commission the past three days with some nasty stomach bug. She finally went back to school today and I finally feel somewhat human again. The house is in a sorry state I'm afraid but what can you do. Don't these germs know that moms aren't supposed to get sick?!?Oh well, on with the junking finds. I took a couple of weeks off from hunting but finally got out again last Thursday and Friday and had some luck. The majority of the items shown here came from one sale. They had tons of great items at awesome prices. I probably should have bought more but I can only handle carrying so much with a baby in one hand. I spent a total of $17.50 at that sale. The only items shown that were not from that sale are the stack of pretty hand towels and the photo with the rough benches.
My most favorite find are the glass ornaments. There are over 65 ornaments total. Awesome! I've never come across so many neat ones in one place at a time. There are tons of ornaments with fun shapes and many with glitter and stripes. So pretty! The price on those would just make you sick. They were in groups of about 10 or more for 25 cents. So all of those ornaments cost me around $1.50. I'd say I'd try and sell a few but I know better. They will be joining my already overflowing collection.

I bought four old blue canning jars with zinc lids. Hard to tell from the photo but the three larger ones are the great big size. Two of them were full of spools of thread. They were priced 25 and 50 cents each.

I..think the milk glass flour shaker was marked a quarter or 50 cents as was the stack of coasters. Love those! I also love the glass dish with the aluminum lid. I'll be keeping that one. The glass is quite heavy and is divided into three sections inside. It'll be a great candy dish.
I..also found some more Pyrex. Pyrex has been a great seller for me lately. I sold my stack of mixing bowls for over $30 and a set of pink gooseberry dishes like the aqua ones in the photo for around $35. My pink divided dish a
lso sold. I almost kept all of the pink Pyrex because I love the color but it really didn't go with my kitchen. The aqua on the other hand is perfect! I paid just 25-50 cents a piece for each piece! I think the Golden Pine casserole is a more rare piece but I'm no Pyrex expert. All of the items on the mirrored tray were about a quarter each. The amber colored item is a travel cup and pill compact. Pretty nifty. The tray itself was $2. I always seem to be buying mirrored trays.

The sweet wicker bed tray was $1 as was the ice bucket on top of it. The stack of six hand towels came from a separate estate sale. I paid $2 for the lot. These usually sell really well. I'm not typically into cutesy salt and pepper shakers but I had to get this egg set for a quarter. I liked the color of the yellow glass bud vase (75 cents) and the painted plate is really pretty ($2 I think).

My..favorite place to search at estate sales is the garage. Even at very expensive sales you can sometimes find some deals in the garage. All of the items in the next photo were found in the garage - except for the frame which I picked up at a garage sale for a quarter. Two of the benches were 50 cents each, one was $2, and the screen deal was $2. I'm thinking of hanging the screen on the wall and displaying old photos on it.
And last but not least are three pieces of brown drip Hull. I have no idea if these sell well around here but they were awfully cheap so I thought I'd give them a shot. The hen is a pretty fun piece. If it went with my kitchen I'd probably keep it.
Thanks for checking me out. Hey I think you are one of new best friends. Love your finds, the same kinda stuff I can not live without.
ReplyDeleteGreat to meet you.
Ok - where are you saling again? I must come and visit!! Those prices are painful!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through Dona at Antekin. I love your finds. We share the same tastes. I'm jealous though, it took me 2 years to collect almost 100 vintage Christmas balls and you find them in one place.
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe the prices you are paying for the items you bought. I love the old Shiny Brite glass ornaments, I collect them and I am lucky to find any here much less all you found for such cheap prices.
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous.

Gorgeous ornies! I have more than I can use, even on like 3 trees, but I still never part with them. :-)
ReplyDeleteI am going to have to wipe the drool off my keyboard! Those ornaments are TO. DIE. FOR. I know you appreciate what an amazing find (for an amazing price) those are! That's the kind of thing I dream about. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the big glass jars--those were a steal too! And the benches are really neat; are you going to paint them and keep them or sell them as is?
Perfect finds. I would have bought everything you bought too. I'm not into Pyrex, but those pieces look perfect and you can't beat the price. I have some benches like that - I salvaged mine out of the dumpsters after they built a house up the street. They are new, but all grungy and covered in paint and stuff, so they look old and shabby to me. I am going to have to stop in KC the next time I pass through and find a sale or two! Glad you are feeling better. The bug is everywhere!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds!!!! I love the ornaments, especially. You could make a wreath if you could bear to hot glue them to a form...Vicki at Hollyhocks.typepad.com
