Makeover Update - New Lighting

We finally installed my "new" light in the dining room! I know this won't be everyone's style but I love it. And my husband didn't seem to hate it too much. I think this really helps give the room the Danish modern look I'm going for. I bought this on ebay and spent a little more than I wanted but it was significantly less than the brand new lights I was looking at and definitely a lot less cookie cutter!

We took a road trip last weekend to Colorado to check out the furniture at Room & Board. It was a little farther drive than going to Chicago but we have family in Colorado so we had a place to stay and free babysitting while my husband and I shopped ALONE! Can't beat that. I think we have pretty well decided to buy the Eugene sofa for the living room and a set of six Jake chairs in white for the dining room. Originally I wanted some vintage teak chairs but now that the light is up I think a little less wood tone is in order. I haven't placed my order yet but hope to in the next couple of weeks.

  1. Your new light fixture looks fabulous with your other decor in that room - and that Eugene sofa you have chosen has some seriously GREAT STYLE! Love your choices!

  2. That light fixture is so cool! I love it with the rest of the furniture. The aqua color on the walls looks so great with the color of the wood, too!

And how have I never heard of Room & Board? Sounds like a field trip is in order!

  3. I have a very similar light in my foyer. Mine has a round glass globe in the center instead of the cylindrical one you have. Love it!

  5. I know this post was about the light fixture but for me it was all about the china in that cabinet, I love it! I love the colors and everything.

  6. It is really coming together beautifully! I really like the lamp with your Danish Modern stuff. And the woodtone makes your turquoise items pop nicely.

  7. I'm in love with your new lighting and the color of your walls and your new hutch thingie. I have dressers that are similar in design to that hutch. Beuatiful room!

  9. Love your blog; I added you to my blogroll. I can't *believe* you found that Danish hutch for just $50! It looks great in your front room with the white and aqua dishes against the aqua walls (same color as my own living room; great isn't it?). The new dining pendant is terrific too. And I heartily support your move to buy a new couch, even though you love vintage. Couches are just one thing you don't necessarily want to have in vintage (saggy, bugs, cat smells in the stuffing, etc) and the one you chose should look great.
