My new living room couch and dining chairs arrived last night! I am very happy with them. I'm not sure how wise it was to go with white chairs with the kids (well with one destructive kid in particular) but they sure do look nice right now. There are

still a few key items that I'm looking for for the living room. I want at least one if not two vintage lounge chairs to go on the side of the room not shown. Eventually I want different art above the couch. I love my silhouettes but I want to put them somewhere else. And most of all I want some danish style side tables. The table beside the couch right now is an old typewriter table. I added a vintage wire basket to the bottom of it so it doubles as toy storage.

Oh and I will probably change out the living room light (not shown) at some point. I have a crystal chandelier up right now and that is nice but it doesn't really fit the new look. The dining room is pretty complete. Eventually I would like something different to hang on the right side of the china cabinet. And I'd love to find something different to put on the tray on the dining table. The item there now is a school art project from my oldest son. I'm not in a big hurry to replace that. I think the curtains work fine in both rooms but someday I'd like some that are more

colorful and go from floor to ceiling. I just can't find pre-made ones that I like and I don't want to make them myself or pay someone to make them so I'll deal for now. The rooms are finally starting to come togeth

er!

Ooooh I love the dining room! I love the paint colors in both rooms too. I think the curtains look great!
ReplyDeleteI think everything looks so nice! How on earth do you keep the toys in the containers? LOL
ReplyDeleteOh, wow! It looks spectacular already! You really have an amazing sense of style. I love it!
ReplyDeleteYour dining room is GORGEOUS! The way the blue dishes go with the walls and the wood tones against the aqua walls.....perfect. The new couch really works too. I have the same wall color you used in your dining room, but I used it in my front room. Is it "botanic tint"? I love how you pay attention to the details, wanting to update tray/centerpiece, wall art, curtains; it will give you years of fun to hunt those things down in flea markets and antique shops until voila! you find just the perfect thing for x spot. You're on my blogroll for your good taste (and great photography).

I'm very jealous of your rooms. If I had my way, I'd decorate just the same. But my dd and dh like more modern cushy stuff. We're getting ready to paint the dining room though and I'm going to go with an aqua. So its a start. Gorgeous rooms!
ReplyDeleteWell worth the wait to see! It all looks FANTASTIC! I LOVE what you've done with the place! Great job.
ReplyDeleteLove your color choice...I've used some of the same ones in my house however not with the modern look....what a refreshing design...so glad you shared it...
ReplyDeletemy parents 1960s couch is identical to yours except its a little bit lighter. You house reminds me of ours in thes 60s!
ReplyDeleteWhere did you find that gorgeous sofa?
ReplyDeleteThe sofa is from Room & Board. I am very happy with it. They have lots of great stuff!
ReplyDeleteYou have good taste for choosing right home furniture... Love your new couch and dining set!! Crystal chandelier and cabinet both are best for dinning area!!
ReplyDeleteI love how your rooms came together. Although my home could never pull that off, I do like the look. I even have the same wooden tray that you have on your dining room table. It just goes to show that good design can be used anywhere because I have a very traditional and country home.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous!
