Before and After Cork Lamp

I can hardly believe it but I actually finished making over my new cork lamp last night - the same day as I bought it! It is now sporting new wiring, a new socket, and a new shade from Target. My $10 lamp is now a $40 lamp but I don't care because I love it! No amount of convincing could get my husband to see it's awesomeness even after the makeover. Can't win all the time! I don't know if you can tell from the photos but the cream portions of the lamp are a natural stone and the black is painted cork. It is very tall and super heavy! I really like how the lamp and my new starburst clock look in the room. And the clock appears to keep perfect time. Hurray!

  1. Love it! You should look and see if you have a Lamps Plus in your area... they will sell wire and sockets pretty cheap! I used to work there, good for future reference anyway.

  3. That's a fantastic lamp! I have two pretty, vintage lamp bases that need to be completely overhauled. I called a local company to see how much it would be for them to rewire, etc. $100.00- so your work is really impressing me!

  5. I love the look of your living room - so restrained, something I'm incapable of. Love the retro clock and colour scheme!

  7. Wow; nice living room! That lamp and clock; truly great finds. My only niggling thought.....I actually like the original lampshade better. I think the proportions are better as it's big enough for that big and heavy base. Plus, the great nubbly texture is so retro.

BUT.....you said it smelled a little, and one cannot put up with that, so I sympathize with your switching it out :)

Love the color of the rooms too; you've got the exact opposite of me: you have green living room, aqua dining; I have aqua living, green dining.

Can't wait to see what's next!

  8. I like the cork lamp, but I think that it overwhelms that little table it is on, it needs something bigger, a simple table that has some size to it.

We used to have a coffee table like that!
