I finally have new cushions for my lounge chairs! They had been at the upholsterers for over two months and I just picked them up last Thursday. They were well worth the wait - she did an amazing job on them. After living with the gold/orange cushions for so long I really had gotten used to them. If both chairs had been identical I might have kept them as is. The cushions weren't even the same size on each chair. Plus while one had super comfy filling, the other was not so great. I really stressed over the new fabric choice but I really like it so far. It is a Knoll fabric that I bought off of ebay for much less than regular retail.Below is an overview of what the living and dining rooms look like now. I still have a few things on my wish list. The first thing I want to do is change out the curtains. While I like the curtains I don't think they work real well in here. I definitely want to go floor to ceiling, possibly a pinch pleat drapery, with a nicer rod. So far I haven't found anything that even comes close to working. I'm definitely open to suggestions!
I LOVE them!
ReplyDeleteThat looks great! I have a fabric question, if Dorothy Draper fabric is available wholesale to the trade only, could a fabric shop order it for me? Or maybe an upholsterer? Or would I have to go to an interior decorator?
ReplyDeleteI don't have a good answer for you on the to the trade fabric. I know very little about fabric! My best guess is you could potentially go to any one of those sources so long as they were customers of Dorothy Draper. I know the upholsterer I used only bought from a couple of different suppliers. I would try contacting the company to find out your options.
ReplyDeleteI love your rooms! Can you tell me what paint colors you used? I am mulling through stacks of greens and aquas and just love your shades. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks Alyssa! I had the hardest time finding the right colors - especially on the green. Both colors are custom. The blue is from Benjamin Moore. With that one I went partway between two colors. Not sure where my paint swatches are right now but the formulation is 30 3/4 - YW 1 X 6 1/4 BB. If I find the swatch I'll leave another comment.
ReplyDeleteFor the green I knew what I wanted but could not find it anywhere. So I mixed up my own sample and had Sherwin Williams match it. Turned out just like I wanted but they put so much colorant in the paint it was very thin. It still only took two coats to cover but it tended to splatter a bit when I rolled it. Here is the formula for that :
Deep Base
BAC Colorant (OZ) (32)
White: (10) (23)
New Green: (-) (2)
Raw Umber: (-) (59)
Yellow: (4) (10)
Black: (-) (8)
I know I have since seen a similar green in a swatch somewhere but I don't remember where. Good luck with your choices! I know it can be a real challenge getting them just right. They always look so different once they are on the wall!
Love the chairs, love your decor and modern style, and the colours on the walls? Sigh. Such great shades and so good together too.
ReplyDeleteYour house is a magazine!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the last shot of the two rooms and I've enjoyed watching them both evolve over the past months. I'm a a loss for curtains; in our large living room window we recently switched from curtains to blinds (with a valance). I'll blog about them soon, but they are translucent blinds even when closed; this way we get a LOT more light even when they are closed, and they look kinda retro (of course!)
ReplyDeleteThat is a spectacular room...I cant even tell you how much I love it...wow.
ReplyDeletereally just wow!
