Welcome to my kitchen! I've noticed that I've pretty much ignored this room on my blog so I figured it was time to fix that.

The kitchen was done before I fell in love with MCM but I wouldn't change it anyway - it's bright and fun and I love it. I decorated around my Fire King red dot bowls. Love them, and obviously lots of other red and white kitchen collectibles! We did really minor renovations in here. Took down some weird moldings off off of the cabinets, painted and added new hardware, new laminate countertops, lighting, bead board backsplash, and new hardwood floors. Stainless appliances weren't all the rage when we bought ours but I like the white just fine. Stainless and little kids fingers don't really mesh well anyway! This is the one room in the house that really doesn't change much. I would like to get some different chairs but I haven't yet found any that I like (that are cheap) that can withstand my youngest child. He's a little hard on kitchen chairs!

Love the aqua and red! And let me tell you, stainless doesn't mesh well with grown ups or cats, either. I wanted a white stove, but the stove I wanted only came in stainless.
ReplyDeleteSo cute and cheerful!

Super cute necklace giveaway!
LOVe it!!! The red and turquoise work so well together!
ReplyDeleteI love your kitchen. It's lovely!!
ReplyDeleteAll of that red and turquoise make me feel all swoony. :) Did you make your curtains, or buy them? And I'd like to know more about how you painted your cabinets. I'm trying to get up the courage to do mine. :)
ReplyDeleteHeidi - the curtains above the sink I found at a garage sale (for like 10 cents or something!) The dotty ones by the table I made (ok, my mil made, but I picked out the fabric!)
ReplyDeleteMy cabinets had been previously painted and they needed a lot of sanding prep to get them all nice and smooth. Then a coat and primer. We used Sherwin Williams Proclassic Interior Acrylic Latex paint applied with a foam roller and it worked great. I do see that it has pretty poor reviews though. Ours went on really nice with no runs and it has held up fantastic. Definitely use a foam roller rather than a brush.
Your kitchen is so precious! I love it. The aqua color is fantastic and look at that cool cut out in the wall!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful kitchen! I love the color combination. And I think your white appliances look a lot better than stainless would in that space.
ReplyDeleteUm...I'm kinda in love with your kitchen. Great combo of light and vintage! I could spend many happy hours in there!
ReplyDeleteI love it! The colors and polka dots are so bright and cheerful, if you're gonna have to be in there for hours then you would want to be happy. Well you might not spend much time in there cooking but your hubby might HAHAHAHA
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is absolutely gorgeous!! I love the red and blue accents but that the majority is white. Beautiful!

Your kitchen is drop dead adorable! I actually painted my kitchen that same shade of blue recently - such a mood boost :)

I have always loved your Fire King bowls! The turquoise, red and white is such a fun combination. Let me tell you I wish we didn't have stainless appliances. Even big kids get them so dirty all the time. Sigh....
ReplyDeleteso very cute! would you mind sharing the paint brand and color?
ReplyDeletethanks!
Do you happen to know the brand and number your wall paint is?
ReplyDeleteIt is a Sherwin Williams color - Peacock Feather #8279
ReplyDeleteIs this your kitchen? I stumbled across it on a blog- recognized it and followed the link to here- I don't see it sourcing you so I thought I'd give you a heads up

Yep, that's my kitchen - though I don't recall it ever looking quite that clean! It was in an issue of BHG's Do it Yourself magazine several years ago so that's where that picture is from.
ReplyDeleteWow - that IS your kitchen. Not that I'm surprised you recognized your own kitchen, just that it is famous! I found the photo on BHG and fell in love. There was not credit online, but I will be sure to link to you now!
